2025

Inspired by the brilliant sunsets of coastal Michigan, I created "Sanctuary" using layers of colorful, embroidered, and quilted fabric with dried flowers and fabric "grasses" sewn into the foreground to create depth. Hand sewn glass beading sprinkled over the waves and sky mimics the sparkling light at the end of a summer day.
I love to incorporate lots of texture and a variety of rich colors to create something unique and different. Every project starts with a basic idea or picture in my head and things just grow organically from there. I am drawn to landscapes in particular, and love to make each one pop with unexpected bits and colors. It's more than just a re-creation of a chosen scene, it's what I feel and see in my heart slowly coming to life. Each new project begins with an idea then I just keep working and gathering materials until I get that "finished" feeling; until I know it's complete.
